Sheaf House Publishers and author Joe Bonsall, songwriter and vocalist for country music’s The Oak Ridge Boys, have partnered to raise funds for a Branson, Mo., library struck by a tornado Feb. 29. The goal is to raise $15,000 for the restoration of the historic Taneyhills Community Library.

Bonsall and his publisher, Sheaf House, have allotted 3,000 copies of his latest book, From My Perspective, to raise funds to help the library recover from the devastation. Branson took a direct hit from a tornado with winds of 120-130 miles per hour and which was on the ground for about 20 miles, according to the National Weather Service. The storm smashed at least seven miles of the city’s commercial strip.

“When my book publishers contacted me with a desire to do something for Branson in the wake of these awful storms, I was moved and touched by their generosity,” said Bonsall. “I thought a great place to concentrate efforts would be the damaged library. I am hopeful that my little book, along with the generosity of Journey Press and Sheaf House, can be of some help.”

From March 5 through April 5, Bonsall will contribute 100% of his royalties on every copy of the book purchased directly from Sheaf House. The publisher will donate an additional $3.50 per copy sold and cover shipping and handling. The library will receive a combined total of $6.54 from every sale.

Published under the Journey Press imprint, From My Perspective is a collection of Bonsall’s commentaries in which he relates stories from his 35 years on the road with The Oak Ridge Boys. His short story, “Billy’s Tornado,” is offered as a bonus to readers at the end of the book.
