Southwestern belt buckles ‘tell a story'

Evangel Arts is bringing its scripture-engraved belt buckles to the inspirational gifts market this month.

The buckles' designs are "heavily influenced by the rich art and culture of the American Southwest," said designer Mike Jones, who has "a passion for design that immediately has relevance and resonates with the person who is considering buying the item."

The buckles (Winged Spirit Cross Buckle pictured) are crafted from fine-quality A2-S Britannium, a 98% tin-content alloy. The alloy, a first cousin to the metal used to create the Oscar statuettes for the Academy Awards, is lead-free and has a dash of pure silver.

With its name referring to the good news of the gospel, Evangel Arts is aiming to "offer products that convey (the) message (of the gospel), uplift, inspire and appeal to the very best in people," he said. "We want the products to tell a story or at least spark a discussion."

The company also plans to sell dogtags and neckware.

Suggested retail price is $22 for each buckle in its specially designed gift box.
