altDivine encounters: In her debut book, Dorothy Valcárcel takes a look at 18 women of the Bible whose lives were changed by encountering Jesus in When a Woman Meets Jesus ($13.99, Revell/Baker Publishing Group), releasing this month. The author, who has spent 25 years working with charitable organizations worldwide, also includes questions and reflections for readers at the end of each chapter.

Bethany House Publishers releases God Has Not Forgotten About You by Leslie Haskin this month. Haskin, a survivor of the 9/11 tragedy, delivers a message of hope to readers wondering if they’ve done something wrong or if God still cares about them. The softcover book will retail for $13.99.

altPraying through distraction is a theme of A Praying Life ($14.99) by Paul Miller, releasing May 15 from NavPress. The book, written in the style of a blog, addresses the subject of prayer, including fulfilled prayers and those left unanswered. Miller previously wrote Love Walked Among Us (NavPress).

Tying mentoring to ministry is the theme of Regi Campbell’s Mentor Like Jesus ($16.99), which released May 1 from B&H Books (B&H Publishing Group). Missional living: Deep Justice Journeys by Kara E. Powell and Brad M. Griffin (Zondervan) is a curriculum and workbook designed to help students get more out of short-term missions. Retailing for $9.99, the workbook gives students space to document their memories while tying them to biblical lessons about missions and ministry.
