A fairytale-like story of selfish royalty aims to teach children about generosity in The Princess and the Kiss: The Three Gifts of Christmas (978-1-593-17378-4, $15.99, Warner Press), releasing Aug. 3.

Based on Acts 20:35, the new hardcover storybook by Jennie Bishop—author of the best-selling The Princess and the Kiss: A Story of God’s Gift of Purity and The Squire and the Scroll: A Tale of the Rewards of a Pure Heart (both Warner Press)—illustrates the importance of giving.

In The Three Gifts of Christmas, Christmas has come again to the kingdom, but the king and queen’s daughter has become so spoiled that her parents decide she will receive only three gifts.

“When her parents decide to limit her Christmas gifts to three, reflecting the number of gifts the wise men gave (Jesus), the princess discovers not only how sweet it is to receive a few very meaningful gifts, but (also) how satisfying it is to share those gifts with others,” Bishop said. “I wrote the book to give today’s parents and children the opportunity to consider meaning over quantity in gift-giving, and to show truly how much better it is to give than to receive.”

The Three Gifts of Christmas includes a CD audiobook featuring Jennifer Wilson, co-host of “ViewPoint” on the Christians Broadcasting Hope network, and music by composer Jay Rouse.

In-store promotional materials are available, and a national marketing and publicity campaign will support the release.
