The training schedule at the International Christian Retail Show (ICRS) in Denver, July 12-15, includes sessions specifically designed for church bookstores.
On Tuesday, July 14, CBA presents "Church Store Workshop: Volunteers-You Love Having Them, But They Drive You Nuts!," from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Featuring Beverly Miller, a CBA retail consultant and former church store manager, the workshop will focus on how to recruit, hire and train volunteers to meet the needs of the congregation and church staff.

Miller believes it is key that volunteers receive encouragement to embrace the higher calling of working at the store in order to provide the best customer experience possible. She will share her experience to help retailers succeed in developing top retail talent in their volunteer staff.

From 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., the same day, CBA Retail Consultant Jo Ann Panter, a former church store owner, presents "Church Store Workshop: They're Not Shopping in Their Own Church Store!"

As the economy impacts church budgets, church stores face the task of staying top of mind with the congregation while serving the church staff, and increasing sales. Panter will share what she has learned in best practices for marketing to a congregation and keeping up with staff needs.
