Rachel Hunt of Shepherdsville, Ky., took the grand prize of Artist Vocal Solo and the Walt Disney World Night of Joy Prize during the 2007 Gospel Music Association (GMA) Academy Artist and Song talent competition at the 33rd GMA Music in the Rockies in Estes Park, Colo.

As part of her prize, Hunt will perform during the Night of Joy event at Walt Disney World in September and have her songs appear on two compilation projects, Velocity from Indelible Creative Group and CCM Magazine's CCM New Music Collection, Vol. 2.

Additional grand prize winners included The Sunflowerz, a worship band from Colorado Springs, Co., for Artist Vocal Group; Hollow, a Christian rock band from Oklahoma City, for Artist Band; Steve Merrick of Clairmont, Calif., for Artist Instrumental; and "How Big Small Can Be," a song written by Steven and Amanda Potaczek from Indianapolis, for Song of 2007.

"We heard a lot of talented artists and songwriters at this year's Music in the Rockies," said John W. Styll, president and CEO of the GMA. "We hope that this week has given them the tools and confidence to find their place in music, whether that be as a recording artist, songwriter or worship leader."

The GMA Academy Artist and Song talent competition is the official talent competition for the GMA and includes six days of professional music seminars and nightly concerts. To see more category winners, visit www.musicintherockies.com.
