Michael W. Smith's 18-date Christmas tour, which kicks off in Norfolk, Va., Friday, is being sponsored by TiVo KidZone.

Some of the proceeds from sales of the TV parental control system through Smith's Web site will go to benefit his Rocketown ministry for teens and Compassion International, of which he has been a longtime supporter.

“I've seen what the networks refer to as 'family-friendly,' and while some of it is great, some of it is way off-base,” Smith said. “It's good to know that even our TV can reflect the values that we have set for our family.”

As Smith prepares for his Christmas tour, which ends in Clearwater, Fla., Dec. 17, his just-released 19th studio recording, Stand, has debuted at No.1 on the Nielsen Christian and Combined SoundScan sales charts.
