INO Records is launching a new rock imprint with industry veteran Steve Ford as president and general manager. Ford, who soon will announce staff additions and artist signings, will head the label, which has not been named. Ford most recently was general manager at Inpop. He also has run the marketing departments at Star Song Records and Myrrh Records and has owned a marketing and consulting firm. The new imprint was the brainchild of Jeff Mosely, INO Records' president, who sees the incredible growth pattern of the genre in the mainstream, as well as Christian, music industries. Partnering with Epic Records, the label will have distribution in the mainstream and CBA markets. The first release will be in the spring with several other releases scheduled in the label's first year.
"This active rock niche has been served well by a small number of labels, but still the genre has been underserved," Moseley said. "There are opportunities for growth and impact that cannot be ignored. I want to have a voice in this community, to speak into the artistry, help cast the vision and build awareness. This is the right time to expand into this arena-with our continued relationship with Epic Records and having an executive the caliber of Steve Ford come available."
