HarperOne is releasing a PG version of the testimony by former Korn guitarist Brian "Head" Welch.

Washed By Blood: Lessons From My Time With Korn and My Journey to Christ, to be published June 24, is described as "a young adult companion" to Welch's New York Times best-selling autobiography, Save Me From Myself.

Released last year, the original book graphically described Welch's years with the popular rock band, his debilitating addiction to drugs and his dramatic conversion.

Welch said that the toned-down edition-which includes discussion questions-had been motivated in part by his 10-year-old daughter, Jennea, who had asked to read Save Me From Myself though "I couldn't let her because it was too graphic."

His first book was "targeted more to my fans in Korn, because I felt I owed it to them to give the real and entire story of why I left Korn," Welch said. With the young adult version, "I feel comfortable letting her, and the younger kids, read about my struggles that brought me to Christ."

Welch, who left Korn in 2005, releases his debut album, also titled Save Me From Myself, Sept. 9 (Warner Music/Ryko Distribution). The first single, "Flush," will be available exclusively on iTunes July 8.
