A division of Hachette Book Group USA, FaithWords has signed Jay Bakker-son of televangelists Jim and Tammy Faye-to a two-book contract.

The first book, which "is an exploration of the true inclusive message of the grace and love of Jesus," is to be published in summer 2009, said FaithWords officials, who noted that the second title will be "a theological treatment of several hot-button issues in the Christian community today."

Bakker, who saw his parents' TV ministry crumble during the PTL scandal when he was 11 years old, abandoned the church and became hooked on drugs and alcohol, but later rededicated his life to Christ.

In 1994, Bakker started the Revolution ministry, which holds services in a bar in Brooklyn, N.Y. His first book, Son of a Preacher Man: My Search for Grace in the Shadows, was published by HarperSanFrancisco in 2001.
