Jars of Clay lead singer Dan Haseltine's children's book The One, The Only, Magnificent Me! (Makinac Island Press) was recently named a Book Sense 2007-2008 Winter Children's Pick Selection by the American Booksellers Association, according to publisher Mackinac Island Press.

The book was selected by more than 2,200 independent bookstores across the country. Illustrated by Haseltine's longtime friend and award-winning artist Joel Schoon Tanis, The One, The Only, Magnificent Me!, about strengthening a child's self-esteem and fostering imagination, was released Sept. 15.

The One, The Only Magnificent Me debuted as the No. 1 children's book on Spring Arbor's best-seller list, and was No. 2 for illustrated children's books on the Top 100 best-seller list at Ingram Book Group, Mackinac Island Press said.

Haseltine said that he tells his two sons-Noah, 6, and Max, 4-many stories at bedtime. "They don't always like them, but this one they loved," he explained. "It seemed that they intuitively understood the importance of the message and the fun of the story."
