Icon Distribution, Mel Gibson's film distribution outlet, is suing the nation's largest movie chain, Regal Entertainment Group, for potentially more than $40 million, according to the Associated Press.

Icon claims Regal withheld revenues the movie chain made from The Passion of The Christ. According to George Hedges, an attorney for Icon, Regal agreed to give the distribution company 55% of receipts but changed their mind in May and offered only 34%.

Icon claimed Regal owed the company more than $40 million and filed the lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday.

Regal Entertainment would not discuss the recent Icon lawsuit.

"We do not comment on our business practices with the studios," said Regal spokesman Dick Westerling.
