Religious book sales rise significantly in July Print

Sales of religious books increased 24.3% for the month of July, according to The Association of American Publishers. The month's sales were $41.7 million, but the category's sales were down 7.1% for the year.

The Adult Hardcover category was up by 9.4% in July with sales of $84.9 million, while year-to-date sales decreased by 5%. Adult Paperback sales increased 9.6% for the month, posting $113.5 million in sales, and sales were up by 10.9% for the year.

The Children's/Young Adult Hardcover category saw a decrease of 77.2% for the month, with sales of $58.6 million, but its sales for year-to-date dropped by 40.8%. The Paperback category for the same age increased 36.4% with sales totaling $45.6 million; annual sales were also up by 13.2%.

Audiobook sales decreased 65.8% in July, with sales totaling $11 million; sales for the year were down by 28.9%. However, E-book sales continued to rise in July, seeing a 71.1% increase for the month to $4.5 million and posting an increase of 47.5% for the year.
