Thomas Nelson will roll out more than 200,000 copies next week of the memoir of troubled pop star Britney Spears’ mother.

Through the Storm: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World by Lynne Spears will release Tuesday, Sept. 16, in Christian bookstores, including Family Christian Stores, LifeWay Christian Stores, Mardel Christian & Education stores, and Berean Christian Stores as well as independent retailers, Nelson officials said.

Originally titled Pop Culture Mom: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World, the book had been scheduled for release in May, around Mother’s Day. But last December, Spears’ youngest daughter, 16-year-old Jamie Lynn Spears, became pregnant with her boyfriend’s child. Lynne Spears decided to focus on her family rather than finish her book at that time, Nelson officials said.

Curt Harding, senior publicist for Nelson’s Business and Culture line, told Christian Retailing that the world’s largest Christian publisher has high expectations for the book.

“Lynne is a delightful, sincere and sometimes spunky Southern mom,” he said. “Her memoir reveals the heart of a mother who has held onto her faith during tough times. Our CEO Mike Hyatt has read the book twice and became personally involved in making sure that it was consistent with Thomas Nelson’s strict editorial standards.”
