Mardel Christian and Education has redesigned its logo and changed its color scheme. The teal, green and purple colors have been replaced by earthy tones, The (Oklahoma City, Okla.) Journal Record reported.

Kelly Black, marketing director for Mardel, said this was the most drastic change to the Oklahoma City, Okla.-based company's look in 20 years.

After looking at market trends, Black told the newspaper that the company saw Mardel's color scheme was outdated. "Our store tended to have an '80s look with the purple and teal-it didn't feel trendy," he said. "We wanted a different up-to-date look and a little more upscale."

Black said the new look better defines the company's niche with Christian educational supplies. The company has slowly unveiled its new logo to existing stores, and Black anticipated almost all of the stores will eventually have the new logo.

Four new Mardels are opening in the Texas market this year with a different layout from previous stores. Black said all of the changes taking place are to provide a refresher to its customer base. "We just feel it serves our customers better," he told the Record. "The different layout and look is more customer service friendly."
