NavPress is reorienting its publishing program, aligning itself closely with its beginnings in the ministry of Navigators. "At NavPress we are first and foremost Navigators," said Mike Miller, executive publisher. "Because we are connected to a worldwide ministry, we are able to do things differently than other publishers." Making the "kingdom of God" the utmost priority, Miller said: "We can trust God for the revenue." Michael Visentine, who became the company's Chief Operations Officer (COO) in May, agreed. "When we take the focus off of trying to match what the other publishers are doing, we are free to do what we do best and be who we are, a mission-based servant publisher," he said. With a focus on discipleship and spiritual growth, NavPress plans to partner with ministries and organizations that "can bring to our customers expertise in areas we cannot, and vice versa," said Jessica Chappell, director of marketing and ministry partnerships. "NavPress is no more or less important than any other publisher or ministry, but we each have a distinct role," Visentine added. "The focus needs to shift from trying to find ways to out-do each other to discovering how we can best serve each other."
As the new COO, Visentine came to NavPress from Sprint where he worked in finance and project management. Visentine had also worked for American Express Financial Planning and LSG Sky Chefs as an analyst for the labor relations department and the finance department.
