Christian Trade Association International (CTAI) has announced that 30 mainland Chinese publishers who publish Christian titles have committed to Marketsquare Asia for the first time-thanks to scholarships from the Global Publishers Alliance (GPA).

Scheduled for Sept. 7-9 in Hong Kong, Marketsquare Asia is the largest international translation rights opportunity for Christian publishers worldwide interested in the Asian market, CTAI officials said.

"Previously, in order to meet with mainland Chinese publishers, it required attendance at the Beijing International Book Fair," CTAI President Jim Powell said. "Our goal has always been to provide an event focused on the vast Christian markets in Asia. ... With this outstanding response from mainland China general publishers eager to invest more in Christian titles, the stage is set for a historic convention."

In addition to mainland China publishers, the Association of Christian Publishers (ACP)-with representatives from Taiwan, Hong Kong and Malaysia-will hold their biannual convention in cooperation with Marketsquare Asia. ACP expects 150 of its members to participate, CTAI officials said.

With delegates expected from more than 15 countries, Marketsquare Asia will feature workshops and an exhibition area. GPA is a sister organization of the Evngelical Christian Publishers Association.
