The highly anticipated The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian will hit 3,800 theaters nationwide tomorrow. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe-Disney's first film in the "Narnia" series in 2005-generated $745 million in worldwide ticket sales, including $292 million in the U.S., according to BoxOfficeMojo.com. Rated PG for epic battle action and violence, Prince Caspian, which is 137 minutes long, has received mostly positive reviews. MSNBC noted that "Prince Caspian is a rousingly entertaining adventure that children and adults will enjoy in equal measure," while the Associated Press (AP) said the movie is “simultaneously darker and funnier, more substantive and more engaging, more violent and more technically accomplished” than its predecessor. The film picks up a year after the Pevensie children-eldest Peter (William Moseley), young woman Susan (Anna Popplewell), teenager Edmund (Skandar Keynes) and youngster Lucy (Georgie Henley)-have left Narnia and returned to school during World War II-era London. But 1,300 years have passed in the magical land where they once served as kings and queens. Although fewer product releases are planned this time compared with The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, more than 30 related to Prince Caspian are scheduled to arrive in Christian bookstores nationwide this month. Bob Siemon Designs recently released a collection of jewelry, featuring seven designs taken from the movie's themes and motifs.
Meanwhile, Disney already has preliminary plans for ancillary products for The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, the sequel to Prince Caspian |
