Religious books sales declined 1.2% in October for a total of $75.3 million. The decrease in the category, which was up 6.8% for the year to date, was revealed in the latest figures just released by the Association of American Publishers (AAP), which saw a month overall increase of 2.1% and yearly sales up 9.3%. The Adult Hardcover category was up by 9.7% in October with sales of $329 million and year-to-date sales were also up by 13.7%. Adult Paperback sales rose 3% for the month ($124 million), but sales were down slightly by 1.3% for the year. Revenues in the Adult Mass Market category fell by 18.1% for October with sales of $62.6 million, contributing toward a 7.5% decline year-to-date. Children's/Young Adult (YA) Hardcover sales saw a decrease of 1.5% with a total of $82 million, although sales year-to-date were up by 52.7%. The AAP also revealed that Children's/YA Paperback sales decreased by 5.2% in October with sales totaling $49.3 million; sales were up by 3.3% for the year. Audiobook sales declined 17.5% for the month with sales totaling $20.4 million and sales for the whole year were up by 29.7%.
