The Association of Theological Booksellers (ATB), an organization of diverse theological bookstores and publishers, has chosen the winners of the 2007 Theologos Awards, with Eerdmans making the strongest showing.

Named Publisher of the Year, as in 2006, Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Co. also won in two book categories. In Best Academic Book, The Gospel of Matthew by R.T. France won, and in Best Children's Book, Four Feet, Two Sandals by Karen Lynn Williams and Khadra Mohammed and illustrated by Doug Chayka was presented with the award.

Jesus of Nazareth by Pope Benedict XVI and Joseph Ratzinger (Doubleday Religion/Doubleday) was named Book of the Year, and Ballantine/Random House came out the victor in the Best General Interest Book with Take This Bread by Sara Miles.

The awards were presented at the annual Theologos Awards luncheon meeting of the ATB on Nov. 17 in San Diego. Hershel Shanks, founding editor of the Biblical Archaeology Review, was the featured speaker.

Given annually by the Association of Theological Booksellers, the awards represent the professional evaluations of people who sell academic religious books. Only ATB bookseller members are eligible to vote.
