Strang to sell Internet ads on bible.org Print

Bible.org-one of the Internet's largest Christian sites-is the first client of the Christian Advertising Network, started recently by Strang Communications.

In this role, Strang will sell advertising on the bible.org site with more than 6 million impressions and 350,000 unique visitors per month as well as on its own sites. Bible.org has a reputation as one of the most trusted biblical resource Web sites. Until now, bible.org only advertised its own products.

Strang has been selling advertising for magazines for more than 32 years, first in print and then on its own Web sites. Now it is following a model made popular in secular circles where large "agencies" sell many Internet sites.

However, few "Christian sites" are served by these agencies, partly due to the advertising content and partly because the Christian sites tend to be small, said Stephen Strang, president of Strang Communications.

"We can help advertisers reach millions of new Christian customers through the Web," he said. "We're excited to partner with bible.org, and we hope to add other new clients soon to the Christian Advertising Network."

He added that the Strang sales team is talking every day to advertisers who want to reach this market, and now can give them the option of either print or the Internet. The company can also help screen advertisers that may not be appropriate for a Christian site, Strang noted.

Dave Foran, executive director of bible.org, said: "Bible.org is pleased to be working with Strang in this new venture. This is an important part of generating income to support the ministry of bible.org. We're committed to provide advertising that is appropriate for bible.org. We're looking forward to a long and fruitful working relationship."

Chris Barch, Strang's advertising director of consumer magazines, said the network was launched in response to advertisers wanting more online advertising opportunities. “We are aiming to partner with some high-traffic Christian Web sites to help our advertisers reach more Christians online,” Barch explained. "Our goal is to become the largest network of Christian Web sites."

Dennis Hendrickson, Strang's Internet sales manager, added: "The network matches advertisers' demographic needs with the best and most productive placement available. Advertisers express their desired audience and we design a campaign that gives them the most premium exposure possible on sites that focus on that audience. They receive the best return for their advertising investment."

In addition to www.bible.org, the network sells online advertising from Strang Communications' magazine Web sites, including www.charismamag.com, www.newmanmag.com, www.ministrytodaymag.com and www.spiritledwoman.com. Strang also publishes Christian Retailing.
