Former Send The Light (STL)/FaithWorks General Manager Larry Carpenter has joined Thomas Nelson as the vice president of marketing, effective immediately.

Carpenter will oversee marketing for the Spiritual Growth/Christian Thought and Practical Living publishing units as well as for the Max Lucado Corporate Brand publishing unit.

Carpenter has “a remarkable combination of brand management expertise, management and leadership skills, creative thinking, and publishing experience that will serve our authors well,” said Thomas Nelson Senior Vice President and Group Publisher David Moberg.

Carpenter has more than 20 years of marketing experience. A former brand manager for Procter & Gamble Co. and director of marketing for Campbell Soup Company in the 1980s, Carpenter moved up through the ranks of Ingram Industries to become president/CEO of Spring Arbor Distributors and Ingram Christian Resources.

For the last six-and-a-half years, he has worked for STL/FaithWorks. Carpenter replaces Greg Stielstra, who left Nelson in March to start his own company, PyroMarketing Inc.
