The Monday after Thanksgiving, known as “Cyber Monday,” the ceremonial kickoff to the online holiday shopping season, will likely be even bigger this year than last as retailers target at-work shoppers with lunch-hour promotions and special savings. Cyber Monday was the second-biggest shopping day of the holiday season last year, according to the Shop.org/Shopzilla eHoliday Mood Study, conducted by BizRate Research.
Online retailers have good reason to focus on the office crowd, as the number of people who will shop online for holiday gifts from work is expected to surge to 61 million this year, up about 10 million from last year, according to a recent Shop.org survey conducted by BIGresearch. Young adults with online access at work are the most likely to shop.
