'Publishers Weekly' announces Best Books of the Year |

Zondervan, Westminster John Knox and two Baker Publishing Group imprints-Brazos Press and Bethany House-earned mentions in Publishers Weekly's 100 Best Books of the Year list, announced this week. Noted religion books included Philip Yancey's Prayer: Does It Make Any Difference? (Zondervan), Darkness Is My Only Companion: A Christian Response to Mental Illness by Kathryn Greene-McCreight (Brazos) and A Jew Among the Evangelicals by Mark Pinsky (Westminster John Knox Press). Other top Religion books included Christianity for the Rest of Us by Diana Butler Bass (Harper San Francisco) and Peter, Paul & Mary Magdalene: The Followers of Jesus in History and Legend by Bart D. Ehrman (Oxford University Press). The Religious Fiction category held two books: Jamie Langston Turner's Winter Birds (Bethany House) and Dwelling Places by Vinita Hampton Wright (HarperSanFrancisco).
