AWSA honors editors with Golden Scroll Awards Print

The Advanced Writers and Speakers Association (AWSA) announced the 2006 winners of its Golden Scroll Awards at the closing of the group's annual conference Sunday at the Denver Athletic Club.

Revell, an imprint of Baker Publishing Group, took home the Golden Scroll Publisher of the Year Award, overcoming B&H Publishing Group and Howard Books for the honor.

Liz Heaney of Liz Heaney Editorial Services, who is best-known for editing Max Lucado's books, won the Golden Scroll Editor of the Year Award, while the Golden Scroll Fiction Editor of the Year Award went to Julee Schwarzburg of Multnomah Publishers.

AWSA founder Linda Evans Shepherd and AWSA Steering Committee President Eva Marie Everson honored Jill Rigby with the AWSA Member of the Year Award for her work with child victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Heather Gemmen, author of Startling Beauty: My Journey From Rape to Restoration, was the recipient of the God Allows U-Turns Strength of Choice Award from Allison Bottke's God Allows U-Turns project.

Best-selling author Ellie Kay was the event's keynote speaker, while author and recording artist Bonnie Keen (First Call) sang and offered a parody written by Martha Bolton and dedicated to editors and publishers.

AWSA is an outreach of Right to the Heart Ministries. The association consists of more than 250 women authors who write and speak nationally.
