Howard Books has been named the Best Christian Place to Work in America for the fourth consecutive year by the Best Christian Workplaces Institute (BCWI).

Founded in 1969, Howard Books, which in February was acquired by Simon & Schuster, publishes 45 gift books, Christian living and fiction titles each year.

“We at Howard Books are proud to receive this honor again,” said Publisher John Howard. “We have a wonderful team of dedicated employees who love working together to bring quality books to readers around the world.”

BCWI surveyed more than 10,600 employees in 93 organizations across the United States “to identify great workplaces with a Christian mission and/or values.” The top 40 survey finalists are listed in the April issue of Christianity Today magazine.

The 4th annual award ceremony was held March 15 at the Christian Management Association's convention in Denver.

“The Best Christian Places to Work in America are experiencing strong growth, low employee turnover and high levels of trust between employees and management,” the survey said.

“Our research indicates leaders in these organizations demonstrate high levels of character, competence and compassion, while employees show high levels of commitment” said Al Lopus, president of BCWI. “We have come to see this survey is a leading indicator of future success for these finalists because of the high levels of organizational health and effectiveness.”

The survey poses questions to employees around six major categories: attraction and retention, motivation and commitment, empowerment and relationships, rewards and benefits, growth and development, and Christian values.
