Zondervan has announced the results of a challenge issued to its employees in June-to read the Bible in 90 days. Thirteen Zondervan employees completed the challenge on schedule. Now Zondervan is extending it to retailers around the nation. In 1999, agnostic Ted Cooper read the entire Bible from cover to cover in three months. Cooper and Zondervan teamed up to design The Bible in 90 Days book/reading program to help others share in this rewarding experience. The Bible in 90 Days, available in bookstores in October, provides readers with a 12-page-a-day reading plan. A curriculum for small groups, The Bible in 90 Days: An Extraordinary Experience With the Word of God, releases in November. Zondervan has invited retailers around the nation to issue the Bible in 90 Days challenge to their employees, and more than 600 bookstores are participating. As part of the challenge, Zondervan sent participants an NIV Thinline Large Print Bible and a reading plan bookmark. Each person who successfully completes the challenge will receive a Bible in 90 Days T-shirt. Mardel Christian and Educational Supply stores, a chain of 20 stores in six states headquartered in Oklahoma City, has accepted the challenge at 17 locations, including its corporate office. In addition, Third Day band member Mark Lee also accepted The Bible in 90 Days challenge and is scheduled to complete his reading early this fall.
