For its 35th anniversary, CBA Canada will focus on the impact of women in the Christian retail industry. The trade association has partnered with Women Alive, the country's largest ministry for women, for the first “Incredible Women'' convention Aug. 26- 28 at the Ottawa Congress Centre in Ontario. The convention theme is “O Canada-We Stand on Guard for Thee.” Marlene Coughlin, executive director of CBA Canada, said the trade association and Women Alive are working together to “impact women in Canada beyond the scope of anything done by either group in the past.” Convention speakers will include authors Liz Curtis Higgs (Bad Girls of the Bible, WaterBrook Press) and Shannon Ethridge (Every Woman's Battle, WaterBrook Press) and John Ortberg (If You Want to Walk on Water, You've Got to Get Out of the Boat, Zondervan). The convention will include a Focus on the Industry-Change Makers symposium led by Robert Brenner, vice president of sales and marketing for Integrity Music. A two-day Retail Development School will be facilitated by Jack Scott of Scott Marketing and Training. Six independent Learning Labs will focus on equipping retailers. The trade show will be open from Aug. 29-31. About 800 delegates are expected to participate from across the country.
