Send The Light Inc. (STL Inc.) has signed an agreement to acquire Appalachian Distributors from owner and founder Tom Torbett. The transaction is scheduled to close by the end of July. Appalachian Distributors, a leading wholesaler of Christian product, will continue to operate from its Johnson City, Tenn., and Reno, Nev., facilities as a division of STL Inc., whose U.S. headquarters is in Waynesboro, Ga. STL Inc. is a subsidiary of Send The Light Ltd., based in Carlisle, England, which has sales revenues of $100 million and is the largest English-language distributor of Christian resources in Europe. Send The Light Ltd. owns STL Distribution, a full-service wholesale distributor that also offers third-party warehousing and distribution for publishers, including companies such as Kingsway Communications, one of the largest Christian book and music publishers in the United Kingdom. Send The Light Ltd. also owns Authentic Media, a book, Bible and music publisher, and has 42 retail stores, trading as Wesley Owen Books & Music. Send The Light is a business ministry, passionately committed to distributing Christian resources around the world, and is very active in supporting missions through its grant-making foundation, the Send The Light Trust.
Send The Light entered the U.S. market in 2003 when it purchased OM Literature from Operation Mobilization, USA. Earlier this year, STL Inc. acquired FaithWorks, the largest full-service Christian distributor, from National Book Network in Washington, D.C.
