Tyndale House Publishers has appointed Andrés Schwartz, formerly of Editorial Portavoz, as director of its new Spanish imprint. Tyndale reported this is the first step in forming the unnamed imprint. Schwartz has been involved in Christian publishing for several years, initially at Cook Communications Ministries in Colorado, and for the last two years with Kregel Publications' Spanish imprint, Editorial Portavoz. He previously served in the United States Navy with assignments in Central and South America. Besides English, he is fluent in German, Portuguese and Spanish. “With nearly 400 million people speaking Spanish, there is an obvious need for products that will meet their spiritual needs,” Schwartz said.
“Just in the United States, there are approximately 20 million people whose primary language is Spanish. This new opportunity with Tyndale will help accomplish our corporate mission, 'to minister to the spiritual needs of people, primarily through literature consistent with biblical principles'.”
