Ingram Content Group (ICG) has appointed Shawn Morin as the company's new chief operating officer, effective immediately.

Morin, who joined ICG in 2009 and has served as chief information officer since that time, will report to Chairman John R. Ingram, and will manage the company's commercial activities, systems and operations.

"As much as we're a distribution business, we're also a technology business, and Shawn Morin is a businessman who is very fluent in technology, which enables everything we do," Ingram said. "Over the past three years, Shawn has done a great job restructuring our systems, both to serve our customers ever better, and also help ensure Ingram's leadership position in an ever-changing industry."

Ingram, who took over as CEO for David "Skip" Prichard, who resigned and left the company on June 8, said Morin "is well prepared to help me and our leadership team execute the vision of where Ingram Content Group is heading in the next period."

Morin added: "In a rapidly changing industry, Ingram is uniquely positioned to help content reach its destination regardless of whether that destination is the printed page or a number of digital devices. I am looking forward to helping publishers, retailers and libraries adapt and grow their business."
