"We want to make it cost-effective for rights managers to reach eastern European publishers," said Kim Pettit, CTAI's chief operating officer. "The exhibition fee, lodging, food and transportation costs should mean that for just about $1,500, a company can multiply its impact in this region."

Romania is a key market for translation in eastern Europe, and publishers from other countries--including Armenia, Poland, Ukraine and Slovakia--are planning to attend the event, CTAI officials said. The 2010 European Christian Book of the Year will be awarded at Marketsquare Europe.

CTAI will cover food and lodging costs for eastern European publishers outside Romania," said CTAI President Jim Powell. "Based on this support, we expect at least 50 publishers to attend."

Special offerings taken at June's International Christian Retail Show in St. Louis yielded nearly $7,700 to help sponsor attendance of Christian product industry representatives in countries such as Poland, Hungary, Ukraine and Belgium at Marketsquare Europe.
