Tami Heim, who stepped down last year as Thomas Nelson's executive vice president and chief publishing officer, has joined the new brand-development and consulting division of a marketing agency and technology firm that specializes in the Christian and nonprofit sectors.

The A Group will construct branding platforms for all types of content creators, with an initial focus on the publishing sector, company officials said.

"In addition to writing great books, today's authors must have engaging Web sites and simultaneously leverage social media, conduct interviews, push creative multimedia messaging and more," said Heim, who served as president of Borders for four years. "The A Group's thorough understanding of the marketplace, new technology, social media and branding allows us to manage each brand holistically and position these artistic entrepreneurs for success."

The A Group already works with several nationally noted authors and speakers, including Pete Wilson, Greg Surratt, Billy Hornsby, Tim Elmore and Laurie Beth Jones.

While at Thomas Nelson, Heim was responsible for executive leadership, revenue growth and profitability for the company's 12 publishing units. During Heim's four-year tenure at Nelson, the company charted 59 titles on the New York Times best-seller lists.
