Zondervan has again postponed Rick Warren's next book, The Hope You Need: From the Lord's Prayer.

Zondervan had hoped to release the book this fall, but Warren "has expressed his need to focus on some other projects at this time, which will result in the postponement of The Hope You Need," said Moe Girkins, Zondervan's president and CEO. "We understand many people will be disappointed at the delay, but we fully support (Warren) and respect his decision. Of course, we remain eager to bring this book to market when the time comes."

Originally scheduled to release last December, the highly touted book--which centers on lessons learned from the Lord's prayer--was delayed until sometime in the first quarter of 2010 to give Warren more time to finish the manuscript, company officials said. Recently, The Hope You Need was to be released in December, according to the Grand Rapids, Mich., publisher's Web site.

In a high-profile campaign last fall, Warren and Zondervan chose the winner of a cover design contest for The Hope You Need, which will retail for $24.99.

Warren is the pastor of Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, Calif., and author of The Purpose-Driven Life (Zondervan)--the best-selling hardcover nonfiction title in publishing history.
