Nelson Books hires new marketing vice president Print

Jeff-JamesNelson Books, a nonfiction imprint of Thomas Nelson, has announced the hiring of its new vice president of marketing, Jeff James. Effective June 29, James will fill the role previously held by Chad Cannon. 

Prior to joining Nelson Books, James was the CEO and founder of Mythology LLC, a marketing consulting practice that designed marketing strategies and management systems for Fortune 500, mid-market, startup and nonprofit organizations. His team pioneered effective digital marketing and social content development processes that helped deliver improvements in brand, revenue and relationships for such diverse clients as Aetna Insurance, CSC, CA Technologies, Boy Scouts of America and International Justice Mission.

Before starting Mythology, James held various sales and marketing management roles during his 14 years at Microsoft Corporation, including serving as the director of relationship marketing for the $6 billion U.S. Enterprise business division; group manager for Digital Advertising at MSN, Microsoft’s Internet services unit; and a leader of Microsoft’s Executive Circle program. He worked with leading business authors and thought leaders such as Malcolm Gladwell, Ram Charan and Clayton Christensen to build relationships with senior executives and business professionals in America’s largest corporations.

James holds a B.A. in Business Management and an M.S. in Human Resources/Labor Relations from West Virginia University.
