w-publishing-group-logoW Publishing Group, a nonfiction imprint of Thomas Nelson, announced Monday the hiring of Judy McDonough as director of publicity. McDonough fills the role previously held by Stephanie Newton, who now serves as HarperCollins Christian Publishing’s marketing director of backlist.

Matt Baugher, senior vice president and publisher of W Publishing Group, is pleased to have McDonough on the team.

"I am personally thrilled that Judy has agreed to join our team at W Publishing,” Baugher said. “She has much to offer through her vast network of contacts, her fresh thinking and her deep desire to work with life-changing content. Our authors are going to love working with her, and they are going to discover a person who is both strategic and persistent in obtaining relevant coverage for each product.  We are fortunate to have some of the most talented people in the industry working here at Thomas Nelson.  Judy McDonough is an ideal fit."

McDonough is a 20-year public relations and media specialist whose work has centered on music and entertainment clients. Prior to joining W Publishing, she ran her own independent firm, JEMMedia, for seven years, representing festivals and music events, record labels, recording artists and reality TV stars.

Before starting JEMMedia, McDonough was publicist at Capitol Records Nashville, where she worked with artists including Keith Urban, Eric Church, Lady Antebellum, Garth Brooks and Darius Rucker.
