Last year, Knapp reappeared, releasing a statement on her Web site that she was indeed returning to making music and offered a preview song.

Letting Go, Knapp's full-length return, will arrive in stores on May 11 (for a preview of the record, click here). It's a return to form for the singer, featuring acoustic folk rock songs centering on relationships, spirituality and soul-searching. Knapp's sound and talent is once again unmistakable.

Although the singer-songwriter is going full swing back into the music scene, beginning with a tour with Derek Webb in March and a spot on this summer' Lilith Fair tour, the former Dove Award-winner isn't targeting the Christian retail market with the release. Knapp's publicist, Kerri Brusca, confirmed to Christian Retailing the release is solely a "general market release."

Speaking of the album, Knapp is quick to point out her desire for broadening her audience beyond her longtime listeners; "...I am so happy to throw off any cloak that has been put upon me that would make any music lover hesitate to listen to my music. I am so excited to bring all different types of people to my party. I've written this for them."

Knapp also seems to be targeting fundamentalism in one of the album's most rousing rock moments, "Inside," where she emotionally sings, "I know they'll bury me before they hear the whole story/ Even if they do, well I know they won't care to chalk it up to a mistake or God forbid they give me grace/ Well, who in the h--- do they think they are?"
