90MinutesInHeaven10thAnniversary-webBaker Publishing Group is celebrating sales of more than 6 million copies of Don Piper's 90 Minutes in Heaven with the publication of a 10th-anniversary edition. The book has spent over five years on the New York Times best-seller list, was a USA Today best-seller and is available in 46 languages.

Baker imprint Revell is releasing the new edition July 1 with a personal update from Piper, a publisher’s note from Baker Publishing Group President Dwight Baker, stories from readers on how Piper’s story affected their lives and an eight-page photo spread showing the author's recovery and his journey since 90 Minutes' 2004 publication.

Piper has shared his story with over 3,000 live audiences that have included over 1.5 million people. Having preached in all 50 states and many countries, he has personally signed over a quarter-million copies of 90 Minutes in Heaven.

A decade ago, Revell launched 90 Minutes in Heaven with a modest first printing of 7,500 copies. At the time, bookstores had not observed much interest in heaven stories, but as interest in Piper’s story slowly grew through word-of-mouth, an entire publishing category was created.

“Don Piper created a path for others,” Baker said. “His rising profile generated a space, not merely for one book and one story, but for other amazing accounts of near-death experiences.”

After a semi-truck collided with Piper’s car in 1989, he was pronounced dead at the scene. For the next 90 minutes, as the book recounts, he experienced the glories of heaven. Miraculously, Piper came back to life, and the pleasure of heaven was replaced by a long and painful recovery. Fifteen years after his accident, Piper finally shared his remarkable story in 90 Minutes in Heaven.

Twenty-five years after his accident, Piper reflects on the amazing work God has done through his story.

“Since [the book’s release], I have traveled just short of two million miles sharing my story, but above all, the real joy for me is the thousands of souls I have seen commit to Christ after reading the book or hearing my testimony,” Piper said. “Men, women, boys and girls who email me, call me, share with me at a book-signing table or walk forward during an altar call to say, ‘I’ve just trusted the Lord as Savior!’ Praise God!”
