DavidCCook-webDavid C Cook (DCC) is announcing the creation of a new Learning Resources Strategic Ministry Unit (SMU). DCC’s recent acquisition of Gospel Light and Standard Publishing resources presented the opportunity to realign the book and curriculum SMUs into a “Learning Resources Unit," enabling the ministry to sharpen its focus on resourcing the local church on a global scale.

The Learning Resources Unit will focus on these key areas: adult trade book resources on Christian living, apologetics, commentary, small group and discipleship; Standard Lesson Commentary; Bible in Life (adult) curriculum; Standard Publishing’s HeartShaper and Encounter; Gospel Light’s traditional children’s curriculum; and Tru, Bible in Life, Echoes and children’s trade book resources featuring the Action Bible and DiscipleShaping resources.

Cris Doornbos, CEO of David C Cook, commented on the new unit’s creation.

“As we work toward equipping the local church on a global scale, the realignment of these ministry units enables us to better focus our mission of transforming today’s generations with relevant resources to build up the body of Christ,” Doornbos said.

Verne Kenney will serve as executive publisher of the Learning Resources Unit; Matt Lockhart as publisher of Standard Lesson Commentary, Bible in Life (adult) and DCC (adult) trade book resources; Lindsay Black as publisher of Standard Publishing’s HeartShaper, Encounter and Gospel Light; Catherine DeVries as publisher of Bible in Life (children), Echoes, The Action Bible and other DCC children’s resources; and Chriscynethia Floyd as vice president of sales and marketing.
