ECPA-top-shelf-winnersThe Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA) honored 10 books and one Bible with Top Shelf Book Cover Awards. The 2015 awards were announced Monday at the opening session of ECPA’s Publishing University (PUBu), which was held Oct. 19-20 at Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois.

Crossway topped the number of Top Shelf Awards received with three, while Zondervan and Baker Publishing Group both won two.

Stan Jantz, executive director of ECPA, reflected on the cover award's significance.

“They say you can’t judge a book by its cover, but we all know cover design has become a more important part of publishing than ever before,” Jantz said.  “ECPA congratulates the designers and publishers that collaborated to produce these outstanding covers.”

The Top Shelf program recognizes and awards design excellence in Christian publishing. The 2015 judging panel included Kimberly Glyder, principal of Kimberly Glyder Design; Charlotte Strick, principal at Strick & Williams; and David Carlson, partner at Studio Gearbox.

“One of the hallmarks of the Top Shelf program is the caliber and reputation of the judges, who represent respected award-winning book designers,” Jantz said. “We appreciate the time and expertise they invest in recognizing design excellence in our industry.”

The Top Shelf winners for 2015 are: Courtney Reissig’s The Accidental Feminist (Crossway), Quinn G. Caldwell’s All I Really Want (Abingdon Press), Kevin DeYoung’s The Biggest Story (Crossway), Collin Hansen’s Blind Spots (Crossway), Sara Hagerty’s Every Bitter Thing Is Sweet (Zondervan), Corrie ten Boom’s The Hiding Place: Young Reader’s Edition (Chosen/Baker Publishing Group), Jessie Clemence’s If I Plug My Ears, God Can’t Tell Me What to Do (Discovery House Publishers), Russell Moore’s Onward (B&H Publishing Group), R.C.
