dove-awards-46th-logoThe 46th Annual Gospel Music Association (GMA) Dove Awards were handed out Tuesday night in 41 categories, as well as four special awards. Lecrae took home the top prize—Artist of the Year—as well as Rap/Hip-Hop Album of the Year and Rap/Hip-Hop Song of the Year.

Lauren Daigle, Seth Mosley and Matt Maher were the night’s other big winners, taking home multiple Dove Awards. Mosley took home four Dove Awards: Songwriter of the Year/Non-Artist, Producer of the Year, Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year (for producing For King and Country’s Run Wild. Live Free. Love Strong.) and Inspirational Album of the Year (for producing Phillips, Craig & Dean’s Above It All). Daigle won New Artist of the Year, and her song "How Can It Be" won both Pop/Contemporary Song of the Year and Song of the Year.

Matt Maher, who received the awards for Songwriter of the Year/Artist and Worship Song of the Year, took the opportunity to comment on the Christian community.

“The great thing about a song is God takes your life, and I’m so grateful for the church,” said Maher. “We live in a (time when) music is in a weird place. I just want to thank Jesus for the church.”

Daigle was similarly reflective about her faith.

“We as a body, we as Christians have a legacy to lead about love,” said Daigle. “We want to allow it to permeate and leave God’s legacy behind.”

GMA also gave away four special recognition honors during the show. Television program Bobby Jones Gospel and radio program 20 the Countdown Magazine, written and produced by Jon Rivers, both received Lifetime Achievement Awards. YouTube received the GMA Impact Award, and Mark Burnett and Roma Downey received the Outstanding Mainstream Contribution to Gospel Music Award. Finally, GMA honored the Joy FM, Southern Gospel (WPRS) with the Radio Impact Award (CCM).

Co-hosted by Erica Campbell and Sadie Robertson, the awards show drew record attendance at the Allen Arena on the campus of Lipscomb University.

The full list of winners is available here. The show will air on Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) on Sunday, Oct. 18 at 9 p.m. CST.
