Superbook-webCharisma House Book Group, a part of Charisma Media, recently confirmed a strategic distribution partnership with the Emmy-nominated Superbook Bible series for children, produced by The Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN). The distribution agreement introduces the reanimated DVD series to retail in the U.S. and Canada for the first time.

“We are excited about this new partnership with Charisma House Book Group," said Gordon Robertson, CEO of CBN and executive producer of the reimagined Superbook series. "For over 30 years, Superbook’s mission has been to bring the stories of the Bible to the children of the world. This distribution agreement will allow us to honor the life-changing legacy of the original series and continue to introduce the new Superbook to today’s generation of viewers.”

Each episode in the series teaches life lessons through the Bible-based adventures of two time-traveling children and their robot friend.

Tessie DeVore, executive vice president of Charisma House Book Group, observes that today’s children are assaulted by increasing moral decline and are in dire need of solid biblical teaching.

“We are honored to be a new part of the Superbook legacy,” DeVore said. “It has played a major role in shaping generations with a biblical worldview from childhood. We endeavor to see today’s children influenced with the same spiritual truths.”

First created in 1981, the original animated series was part of an outreach to Japan. More than 8 million people watched the series. Upon its international launch, the series was given its English name, Superbook. Now, with a worldwide viewership of more than 500 million, the series has been translated into 43 languages and broadcast in over 100 countries. Today CBN and a team of Emmy-winning artists and storytellers, whose credits include Mulan, The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast, are collaborating to completely reimagine the classic series using the latest 3-D CGI technology.
