the-storyIn 2005, Zondervan developed a new approach to Bible engagement. The publisher envisioned a Bible that read like a novel, so that readers could experience God’s story.

Christian best-selling title The Story: The Bible as One Continuing Story of God and His People uses scripture to chronicle the stories of the Bible in 31 short chapters. Now in its 10th year, The Story’s expanded brand line has sold over 5 million units. It continues to experience a demanding interest in individuals and churches alike, with over a million units sold in 2014.

Contributor and best-selling author Randy Frazee, believed that The Story could be more than just one book. Working alongside Zondervan, Frazee and the publisher began to develop several complementary brand products for adults, teens and kids that included books, video curriculum and study resources.

While serving as a senior minister at Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, Texas, Frazee decided to lead his congregation through The Story one chapter at a time. He recalls, “Max Lucado and I launched The Story in 2009. It is designed to raise the level of biblical literacy and to help us understand the one grand love story of God.

“But what we didn’t expect was the growth in our congregation. Our attendance grew 23% that year! It turns out, people inside and outside churches are longing to engage the Bible in a substantial way.”

Later this year, Believe: Living the Story of the Bible to Become Like Jesus, will release, building on the foundation of The Story. Believe is a spiritual growth experience, helping Christians of all ages understand the big ideas of the Bible. The Believe brand of resources will be in retailers this spring.
