Christian Resources Together has announced the launch of a new trade magazine to replace the former Christian Marketplace magazine.

The first issue of the 48-page bi-monthly—titled Together—will be published in February.

The decision to publish a new magazine followed talks with retailers and suppliers who expressed a desire to see a continuation of an independent print trade magazine.

The team behind Together magazine comprises Steve and Mandy Briars, publishers, Christian Resources Together; Clem Jackson, editor; and Eddie Olliffe, consulting editor.

“I am pleased to be part of this new magazine as it is an opportunity to support, encourage and resource the trade to build community at a time when we need each other,” said Jackson, formerly editor of the now-defunct Christian Marketplace magazine.

Together UK boardThe first edition will be a 24-page pilot issued in February, with the full 48-page magazine to be launched in April. Yeomans Print & Design and Tonbridge have been commissioned to design the magazine, which will be contemporary in style while retaining a familiar feel for the readers of Christian Marketplace.

Along with regular features, including trade news and product information, the aim of Together is to be a valuable resource for retailers with features such as author interviews and bookshop profiles.

Retailers and suppliers are pleased with the decision to move forward with a new publication for the U.K. Christian trade.

“We are delighted that CRT has taken the decision to publish a new trade magazine,” said Tony Bronnimann, Quench Retail Stores. “We can feel confident it will not only be a valuable resource but have retail at its heart.”

Brian Wilson, chief executive of Inter-Varsity Press, U.K., said: “This is extremely positive news for our trade. The strong and experienced team behind Together gives us a well-founded confidence that this new initiative will fulfill the developing requirements of retailers and suppliers in these changing times.”

Karen Laister, deputy chief executive, Bible Reading Fellowship, agreed: “Together is a welcome new resource to inform and equip Christian retailers and suppliers. In what continues to be a difficult trading time, we need a journal that will help us grapple with big issues and rapidly changing market trends. Well done to Steve, Mandy, Clem and Eddie for having the vision for Together and the passion to help our ministries reach their full potential.”
