LifeWay Christian Stores has expanded the use of Integra Interactive’s myMEDIA BurnBar chain-wide. After testing the media-on-demand kiosks in 47 stores, the burn-server hardware was shipped to an additional 105 locations in September.

“LifeWay and Integra are collaborating on the creation of in-store merchandising to promote the kiosks to its shoppers,” said Don Noes, Integra senior vice president. “The very encouraging sales results from the test locations are an indicator of the future, given that little has been done to promote myMEDIA BurnBar. LifeWay has told us they will be aggressively marketing it outside of the stores.”

Two of LifeWay’s key reasons for selecting Integra were its digital catalog covering nearly all of the Christian music labels and its commitment to excellent tech support, Integra said in a statement announcing the move. Originally interested in giving customers the ability to burn performance tracks, LifeWay soon discovered that even with stocking an extensive artist music catalog in physical CDs, customers were burning more full albums and a la carte song playlists than anticipated.

In early 2008, LifeWay began using an in-store burning system with another company in six of its locations. The following year LifeWay replaced these systems with myMEDIA BurnBars and added six more locations. By late 2010 the number had increased to 22 stores and by January this year, it was up to 47. By mid-November, all 152 LifeWay store locations are expected to be fully operational.

With the addition of LifeWay, myMEDIA BurnBar is now in 500 locations across the U.S., Canada, the Bahamas and England.
