The new complete Common English Bible (CEB) has been released in 20 digital platforms, ahead of its July-August print debut from Abingdon Press.

Offered at CommonEnglishBible.com, CEB's electronic editions are available on the Kindle, iPad, iPhone, Nook, Sony, Olive Tree, Logos, BibleWorks, Accordance, ChristianBook, Kobo, OverDrive, Blio, Copia, Lightning Source and YouVersion. The introductory retail price of all electronic versions is $5.95, increasing to $9.95 Sept. 1. The translation will also be searchable at BibleGateway.com and at BibleStudyTools.com.

The New Testament of CEB was released in August 2010. CEB is "a brand-new, bold translation designed to meet the needs of people in all stages of their spiritual journey and study," said Paul Franklyn, associate publisher for CEB.

Franklyn said that there had been strong interest in the Christian retail channel in the CEB, which was started after interviews with more than 4,000 Bible purchasers.

CEB's translation was sponsored by five mainline denominations—the Presbyterian Church USA, The Episcopal Church, the United Methodist Church, the Disciples of Christ and the United Church of Christ.
