The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

will be released April 8 on DVD by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, and distributed to Christian stores by Provident-Integrity Distribution.

The third film in the franchise based on C.S. Lewis' beloved children's fantasy novels took in $101 million at the domestic box office following its December release, significantly less than theater receipts for the 2005 release of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe ($291.7 million) and Prince Caspian ($141.6 million) in 2008, according to BoxOfficeMojo.com. However, Dawn Treader has earned $270 million in foreign receipts—nearly matching Prince Caspian's overseas gross.

Dawn Treader?which received mixed reviews?was heavily marketed by Walden Media and 20th Century Fox to the faith community, including churches and parachurch groups. The movie is available in single, two- and three-disc sets. Extras include deleted scenes and audio commentary by Director Michael Apted and Producer Mark Johnson.

Rated PG for some frightening images and sequences of fantasy action, Dawn Treader retails for $29.98 on DVD and $39.99 on Blu-ray.
