GRAMMY nods for Winans, Houghton and Skaggs Print Email

BeBe and CeCe Winans as well as Israel Houghton and Ricky Skaggs received two GRAMMY Award nominations apiece last night during a televised show from Los Angeles.

The Winans were nominated in Best Gospel Performance for "Grace" and Best Contemporary R&B Gospel Album for Still (B&C Records/Malaco Records).

Houghton was nominated in the Best Gospel Performance and Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album categories for "You Hold My World" and Love God. Love People. (Integrity Music/Columbia Records/Provident-Integrity Distribution).

Besides Love God. Love People., the nominees in the Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album category were Beauty Will Rise by Steven Curtis Chapman (Sparrow Records/EMI CMG Distribution); Pieces of a Real Heart by Sanctus Real (Sparrow Records/EMI CMG); Mosaic by Ricky Skaggs (Skaggs Family Records/Universal Music Christian Group/EMI CMG); and Tonight by TobyMac (Forefront Records/EMI CMG).

The Best Gospel Song nominees were Gungor's "Beautiful Things" by songwriters Lisa and Michael Gungor; Amy Grant's "Better Than a Hallelujah" by Sarah Hart and Chapin Hartford; Kirk Whalum and Lalah Hathaway's "It's What I Do" by Jerry Peters and Kirk Whalum; Chris Tomlin's "Our God" by Jonas Myrin, Matt Redman, Jesse Reeves and Chris Tomlin; and Ricky Skaggs' "Return to Sender" by Gordon Kennedy.

In the Best Rock or Rap Gospel Album category, the nominees were Church Music by David Crowder Band (sixstepsrecords/EMI CMG); For Those Who Wait by Fireflight (Flicker Records/Provident-Integrity); Beautiful Things by Gungor (Brash Music/Word Distribution); Rehab by Lecrae (Reach Records/Infinity Music Distribution); and Hello Hurricane by Switchfoot (Credential Recordings/EMI CMG).

The 53rd Annual GRAMMY Awards are scheduled for live broadcast on CBS at 8 p.m. EST, Sunday, Feb. 13.
