Casting Crowns album goes platinum

GRAMMY-winning band Casting Crowns has been awarded its eight overall Recording Industry Association of America milestone with the Platinum certification of The Altar and the Door (Beach Street Records/Provident-Integrity Distribution), released in August 2007.

The recognition represents 1 million units sold of The Altar and the Door--the band's third Platinum-selling, full-length album. Casting Crowns also received Platinum certification for the band's self-titled debut and Lifesong. Additionally, Casting Crowns' video projects--Live From Atlanta and Lifesong Live--reached the Platinum threshold for shipments of 100,000 units in longform video.

The band's Until The Whole World Hears Live, a DVD/CD combo package, was released Aug. 31 by Beach Street Records. Casting Crowns' Until The Whole World Hears Tour continues nationwide through the fall, with stops in Ireland, England, Norway and Germany scheduled for November.
