Thomas Nelson and Baker Publishing Group lead the field in this year's Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA) Christian Book Awards, with eight and six titles--respectively--in the list of finalists in six categories.

The association's Christian Book Awards will be presented at a special dinner event in Nashville, May 3, on the eve of ECPA's Executive Leadership Summit.

Bibles: The American Patriot's Bible, Chronological Study Bible and The Word of Promise Audio Bible (all Thomas Nelson); NIV Stewardship Study Bible and Glo Bible (both Zondervan).

Bible Reference & Study: A Visual Guide to Bible Events by James C. Martin, John A. Beck and David G. Hansen (Baker Books/Baker Publishing Group); The New Moody Atlas of the Bible by Barry J. Beitzel and Pastoring Men by Patrick Morley (both Moody Publishers); Peoples of the New Testament World by William A. Simmons
(Hendrickson Publishers); and The Zondervan Encyclopedia of the Bible by Merrill C. Tenney and Moisés Silva (Zondervan).

Children & Youth (six finalists listed due to tie): A Young Woman's Guide to Making Right Choices by Elizabeth George (Harvest House Publishers); Before You Date by Hayley and Michael DiMarco (Revell/Baker Publishing Group); Sweet Dreams Princess: God's Little Princess Bedtime Bible Stories, Devotions, & Prayers by
Sheila Walsh and Take Your Best Shot by Austin Gutwein with Todd Hillard (both Tommy Nelson/Thomas Nelson); Jesus Is Alive: Evidence for the Resurrection for Kids by Josh McDowell and Sean McDowell (Regal Books); and Wild Cat by Dandi Daley Mackall (Tyndale House Publishers).

Christian Life: The Hole in Our Gospel by Richard Stearns and The Principle of the Path by Andy Stanley (both Thomas Nelson); If God Is Good by Randy Alcorn (Multnomah Books); Inside the Revolution by Joel C. Rosenberg (Tyndale House Publishers); and The Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan (Crossway).

Fiction (seven finalists listed due to tie): Blood Bayou by Karen Young (Howard Books); The Centurion's Wife by Davis Bunn and Jannette Oke and Watch Over Me by Christa Parrish (both Bethany House Publishers/Baker Publishing Group); Healing Waters by Stephen Arterburn and Nancy Rue (Thomas Nelson); June Bug by Chris Fabry and Veiled Freedom by Jeanette Windle (both Tyndale House Publishers); and Michal by Jill Eileen Smith (Revell/Baker Publishing Group).
